Inside Out

For the last three years I have been working on a series called Inside Out.

We live in houses. When you look in a window from the outside, you get one perspective. When you look out the same window from inside the house you gain a different perspective. My inside out sculptures allow you to view both perspectives at the same time.

I plan to show these pieces together as a group. There will be eight to ten pieces grouped to create a room. As the viewer walks around them they will have the sensation of being inside the space created by the pieces. Looking out to see the rest of the space.

I would like to use this series to engage others. I hope to be able to work with high schools students to further explore the ideas inspired by the term Inside Out. I would propose a writing program that could include short stories, poetry, research non fiction, or fiction. I also propose a music program to compose and perform original music based on the theme of Inside out. The writing would be included in a book with the show, and the music would be preformed in and around the sculpture by the students.
